Samsung Australia has revealed that it has achieved big growth in the refrigeration category and is now one of the top selling brands in the country. The company also reported growth in other categories including laundry care, cooking appliances and floorcare.According to August 2010 GfK data, Samsung sold the most units of Top Mount, Side-by-Side and French Door refrigerators, making them one of the country’s top selling refrigerator brands.
Samsung says that it is the category leader in 2D Side-by-Side refrigerators for the year with a 38 per cent unit share, while its top mount refrigerators have taken 26 percent share of the August 2010 sales. The company also said that its Samsung French Door refrigerators achieved 44 percent of Australian sales during the same month.
Samsung has attributed the increase in its refrigerator sales to an increase in retailer recommendation rates to consumers.
“Compared to three years ago, Samsung has more than doubled in overall recommendations at a retail level. According to a global Samsung study, which polled 197 Australian retailers in May 2010, when having to recommend only one refrigerator to consumers, Samsung is the clear choice with nearly 40 percent reporting that they recommend Samsung more than any other product,” said the company.
Samsung Australia’s Group Senior Product Manager for White Goods, Mike Lilly said, “The growth in our refrigerator market share reflects the success that we have seen across our entire home appliances range within Australia and proves that Samsung is delivering home appliances that meet the needs of today’s consumers. Going into 2011, we will continue to expand our product range with exciting new innovative technologies and designs that bring tomorrow’s experiences into Australian homes today.”
