Dell subsidiary Alienware – which specialises in high-powered computers for games playing – has unveiled a range of new laptops powered by Intel’s second-generation Intel Core i (“Sandy Bridge”) processors.The new range includes the soon-to-be-released M18x which sports a massive 18.4-inch HD display and is capable of 3D operation.
It modestly lays claim to the title of “most powerful 18-inch gaming laptop in the universe”. Its Intel Core-i7 “Extreme” processor can be overclocked to 4GHz. Basic RAM of four gigabytes can be increased to 32GB.
Other models are the M14x, which is rather more portable with a 14-inch display; and an enhanced M11x, claimed to be “the most-powerful sub-14-inch notebook in the universe” (the display is actually an 11-incher).
In Australia the M11X will start at $1499; the M14X at $2199; and the M18X will go for $3299.
