The big question for many vendors is will digital radio take off? Currently GFK do not track radio sales however this will change with the Company set to deliver their first lot of radio sales date next month say Gary Lamb the Managing Director of GFK Australia.

Pioneer Australia General Manager Rob Thompson claims that this is the million dollar question. “The biggest issue is will consumers buy a standalone radio or will they invest the extra dollars and buy a receiver or home theatre kit that will have DAB+ built in the future. In teaming up to distribute the Pure brand we will not only be able to deliver a range of digital radio’s that are successful in Europe but later into the specialist channel a range of Pioneer hi Fi and Home Theatre products with DAB + built in”.

He added “The nice thing about the Pure range is that we have a model to suite most buyers, from the top end IP model that delivers Internet radio to a pink model for the ladies. Our pricing is also competitive with models ranging from $169 through to $1,000. We also have the largest range of digital radios on offer for Australian consumers”.
