BlackBerry has lashed out at Facebook and WhatsApp over their plans to axe support for its shrinking smartphone platform.
WhatsApp announced earlier this month that it would ditch its BlackBerry apps by the end of the year and likewise its parent company Facebook.
“We are extremely disappointed in their decision, as we know so many users love these apps,” BlackBerry said. “We fought back to work with WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds, but at this time their decision stands.”
WhatsApp said its decision to can the BlackBerry apps is because the software doesn’t “offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future”.
