Blackberry maker Research in Motion (RIM) is negotiating with major record companies hoping to deliver a limited digital music service for people who use its BlackBerry phones.
The NYTimes claim unlike current cloud music services, the BlackBerry program will only allow users to share a limited number of songs. In comparison Rhapsody offers millions of songs that can be streamed, paling the BlackBerry offering.
The service is expected to cost less than $10 a month and to be added onto customers’ phone bills. Record companies are expected to receive a share from the revenue.
