Licensing partner, TCL Communications, has unveiled its “most advanced” BlackBerry yet – the new KEY2 (US$649). Aussies can expect to receive the new device “shortly”, with global shipping commencing June/July.
The new KEY2 is BlackBerry’s first smartphone to feature a dual-rear camera [12MP], and introduces ‘Speed Key’ for easy app access at any time.
Staying true to BlackBerry’s reputation, the KEY2 retains a physical keyboard, and the company’s trademark security and privacy features.
The device offers several ‘first’ features for a BlackBerry phone, including the latest Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.
Senior VP, TCL Communication & President BlackBerry Mobile, Alain Lejeune, claims the KEY2 supports BlackBerry’s pledge to manufacturer the “world’s most secure Android smartphones”.
Lejeune affirms the KEY2 retains BlackBerrry’s “iconic” hallmarks, and introduces many new innovations to make its “one of the best devices for security and privacy”, and the “most advanced BlackBerry” ever.
The new KEY2 incorporates a sleek Series 7 aluminium frame, with an updated soft touch back for more grip. The handset also features a “redesigned intelligent keyboard” with a 4.5-inch 2.5D Corning® Gorilla® Glass touch screen.
The revamped keyboard claims to make typing faster, and includes an in-keyboard fingerprint reader.
The KEY2 is powered by a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor, and offers 6GB of memory in either 64GB or 128GB storage.
The device claims to offer a two day battery life, and supports Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 3.0.
