Video Ezy partner Blockbuster is looking to expand their retail offering by selling and renting video games and gaming consoles. Blockbuster who last month made a bid to buy struggling US CE retailer Circuit City is desperate to expand their operation in light of a declining market.
The movie rental company said the expansion will allow customers to buy games, hardware and accessories for the Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS game systems at its stores.
Blockbuster also plans to offer more video game rental options.
The move comes shortly after Blockbuster made a hostile takeover bid of just over $1 billion for Circuit City Stores Inc. in hopes of creating a huge chain that would sell electronic gadgets and rent movies and games.
Circuit City, is the second biggest consumer electronics chain in the USA and is among the top games retailers. The issue in Australia is whether the games console manufacturers who have close relationships with manufacturers like Harvey Norman and JB Hi Fi would supply Video Ezy who recently aquired the Blockbuster franchise.
