Bose who are selling their products in Australia at up to twice the price of the USA have said that they are set to cut their workforce by 1,000 people, or about 10 percent .
The Company whose Australian operations are based on the Gold Coast have not said whether any cuts will be made in Australia.
The Company that make the popular Wave radio and noise-cancelling headphones as been trying to break into the custom installation market however most of their products are lacking when compared to offerings from other Companies.
An example is their Lifestyle home entertainment system that has no wireless or Ethernet capability and if a consumer wants to plug in an iPod they have to buy a separate Bose iPod dock that will not interface with the Lifestyle system.
The company says in a statement that the layoffs will come from “select areas, including manufacturing,” according to US media reports.

Bose says the restructuring is “in response to the decline of the global economy and its impact on consumer spending.”
