Canon’s latest Consumer Digital Lifestyle Index (CDLI) found total unit sales of digital lifestyle products grew 8.4 percent to 5.9 million units in the six months to June 30. Revenue was up 7.2 percent at $2.6 billion.
“Australians love their digital technology, and they continue to direct a greater proportion of their discretionary income to it, even in uncertain times,” said Darren Ryan, GM of product marketing at Canon Australia.
LCD TVs, games consoles, digital still cameras and digital media players were the biggest contributors to the $174 million sales increase in the first six months. However spending on plasma TVs and DVD recorders was down.
The index is compiled for Canon by GfK. Currently Canon are reporting a big downturn in global profits and sales.
