All models are destined to set the standard in their class with a unique combination of advanced features, creative controls and greater flexibility, the company claims.

Product Manager of Digital Still Cameras for Canon Australia, Kimberley Langton said, “The versatile PowerShot A series is designed to be appealing and user-friendly for every photographer, regardless of their experience. These new PowerShot cameras embody that tradition, as well as making some of the creative elements of a DSLR camera accessible in a compact point-and-shoot model.”

According to Canon, these new model produces high-quality images and is also highly portable making it perfect for photographing special events or holidays. It also comes complete with creative manual settings and advanced shooting functions, and incorporates a no-fuss, user-friendly design, making operation a breeze for any user.

The PowerShot A650 IS

The Canon PowerShot A650 IS is an all-in-one model that fuses high level image quality, intuitive design and functionality. The inclusion of a new ultra-high definition 12.1 mega pixel CCD and Canon’s advanced technologies position this as Canon’s most powerful A series model to date. The high-quality, Vari-angle LCD monitor allows low-angle shooting, self-portraits and a range of other highly flexible shooting methods. The A650 IS also has a wide variety of shooting modes, including the LP Movie Mode for long duration movie filming. An Image Inspection Tool that conveniently allows verification of image focus on a particular subject has also been added, improving its user-friendly functionality.

The PowerShot A720 IS

Any users can enjoy the PowerShot A720 IS by simply selecting a shooting mode according to their level of expertise. This makes it possible for users to advance to higher levels of creative photography, a process that is supported by the three newly included “peace of mind” technologies – DiG!C III, Face Detect Technology and Noise Reduction Technology. The easy to use Mode Dial offers five modes for frequently applied scenarios for beautiful results in everyday photography. Seven preset functions are provided for capturing seasonal events such as beach, snow or night action and four other Creative Zone options are available, including AV mode for those users who enjoy taking advantage of depth of field to create a work of art.

The PowerShot SX100 IS

With a 10x optical zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer, the PowerShot SX100 IS is able to clearly and distinctly reveal detail in subjects at a distance. Its 8.0 mega pixel CCD sensor ensures images are of the highest quality even at full zoom, while Canon’s unique Face Detection technology improves focus, exposure and flash output for people shots. The newly added Face Selector Button, conveniently located on the camera’s back panel, allows users to manually select the main subject they wish to photograph from a group of detected faces.

The PowerShot SX100 IS also offers an excellent user interface for intuitive operation. The Mode Dial is comprised of advanced settings for frequently shot scenes such as Night Snapshot and Portrait, as well as a Creative Zone which allows the camera to be set manually according to the user’s own preference.  An easy to view button arrangement is located under the LCD monitor for trouble-free navigation and a dedicated playback button enables users to start playback even when the camera is switched off. In addition, the Multi Control dial can change settings, such as shutter and ISO speed, as well as smoothly advance through the images during playback.
