Canon is taking on the likes of Sony and Panasonic by entering the high definition video camera space with the launch of a new consumer camcorder; the HV20.
What sets it apart from its competitors, Canon says, is that the HV20 integrates a ‘True Progressive’ HD CMOS (1920×1080) sensor, with a choice of interlaced or progressive (25PF) output.
“By integrating True Progressive technology with Canon’s unrivalled HD lens quality, we are setting a new benchmark for the best consumer HD video possible,” said Canon’sTamara Hohnberg.
Also featuring Canon’s 10x HD video lens technology with optical image stabilizer and instant auto focus, the camera is designed to compensate for hand shake and make shooting fast moving objects easier.
There are also 13 shooting modes, built-in video and flash light, microphone and headphone jacks, an HDMI terminal and the camera can take 3.1 megapixel digital photos as well.
