Canon has launched a new range of business inkjet printers called MAXIFY – capable of supporting high volume, colour printing for small businesses – available now through Officeworks and Bing Lee stores, but nationwide from February next year.
The MAXIFY range gives Canon a greater range for small or home business customers looking for professional quality colour printing as well as high-quality copying, scanning and faxing. The new MAXIFY range includes four multi-functional devices (MFDs) – MB2060, MB2360, MB5060 and MB5360, plus one single-function printer (SFP), the iB4060.
Wi-Fi connectivity allows the printers to deliver wireless printing from mobile devices. Canon’s MAXIFY Cloud Link offers printing from and scanning to, cloud storage providers such as Evernote, Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive, directly from the printer screen.
Canon’s MAXIFY Printing Solutions App delivers similar functionality via a smartphone or tablet. The printers are also compatible with mobile printing solutions such as Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.
The MAXIFY MB2060, MB2360, MB5060, MB5360 printers also feature Canon’s scan-to-email function, which allows users to save time and send scanned documents and images as email attachments directly from the
printer.
According to Canon, these new models have been designed with durability in mind to handle the high print volumes required by small and home offices. The MB2060 and MB2360 will support home office environments with a recommended print capacity of up to 1000 pages per month, while the MB5060, MB5360 and iB4060 have been designed for small office printing and support higher print volumes of up to 1500 pages per month.
The new devices help with productivity in the office with a First Print Out Time (ISO-FPOT) which can be as low as seven seconds and A4 print speeds at 23 ipm for black-and-white and 15 ipm for colour.
The MAXIFY MB5360 features Canon’s new Single Pass 2-sided Scan functionality, which allows both sides of the document to be scanned simultaneously. Two CIS sensors scan both the front and back of the page as it moves through the printer, enhancing scan and copy speeds and saving time when large batches of documents need to be processed in one go.
The MAXIFY printers use a new Dual Resistant High Density (DRHD) ink that has been designed for the range. Building on Canon’s FINE ink technology, the new ink is specially formulated for business documents and is water, friction and marker resistant for extra durability. Allowing small businesses to produce high quality documents, the DRHD ink delivers black text and vivid colours on graphics, whilst also enabling small businesses to benefit from low cost per page printing.
According to Canon, the new range delivers cost-effective colour prints because of its new high-yield XL ink tanks. Aimed at home offices, the MAXIFY MB2060 and MB2360, produce up to 1200 black-and-white
pages, while the small office MAXIFY printers, the MB5060, MB5360 and iB4060, produce up to 2,500 black-and-white pages before cartridges need to be replaced.
The new MAXIFY range has been designed with greater visibility so small businesses can keep a closer eye on printing costs. These printers feature control options such as limiting the ability to copy in colour by setting a password. The new printers also offer the option to keep a record of total volumes printed, scanned or faxed, to allow users to get a better picture of how the device is being used in the office.
