It is not the newest Carlos Jobim compilation by any means, but it is a fantastic showcase of the Bossa Nova guru’s killer compositions re-interpretated by Jazz greats.
Antonio Carlos Jobim is the composer behind such classics as The Girl From Ipanema, Wave and Desafinado. This compilation by the Verve Music Group includes these and other beautiful Jobim tracks, as played or sung by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Stan Getz and more.
As you would expect, from such a line-up of artists, the standard of music is quite high! But what we loved most about this compilation was hearing traditional jazz singers such as Fitzgerald and Vaughn singing in a Bossa Nova style.
It’s a shame we happened onto this CD so late since it was first released, but it’s definitely better late than never. One that will definitely make your system shine.
