A friend put me onto this album – in fact he bought it for my wife as a thank-you present, and I thought “great, another singer/song writer/guitarist out of Old Blighty.”
Hand Built By Robots is one of those discs you put on the “turntable” and after a couple of plays you find yourself singing along to the tunes almost without realising it.

Faulkner is a craftsman – not just of songs, but of playing the guitar, too (although, he would have to admit, his lyrics need a bit of work). His style and substance belies his 23 years of age, and seems (in my opinion anyway) more accomplished than contemporaries such as mssrs Blunt, Morrison and Mayer.
Standouts tracks include singles Dream Catch Me, I Need Something, and a take on Massive Attack’s Tears, which is almost better than the original.
Is Faulkner a shining light in the singer-songwriter genre? Too early to tell really, and like most musos probably would hate to be pigeon-holed. The truth of the matter will be when album number two hits stores and the net; only then will we find out if the promising start to his career will be on its way to fruition.
