High-end European car brand, Mercedes Benz, has unveiled a striking car inspired by the sci-fi Avatar movie at this years annual CES.
The Vision AVTR sports a sleek black or silver exterior design with electronic blue and purple lighting, intended as a bold reincarnation of the fictional Pandora world.
‘The name of the groundbreaking concept vehicle stands not only for the close collaboration in developing the show car together with the AVATAR team but also for ADVANCED VEHICLE TRANSFORMATION,’ said a Mercedes Benz statement.
‘This concept vehicle embodies the vision of Mercedes-Benz designers, engineers and trend researchers for mobility in the distant future.’
But the most impressive features go beyond the aesthetics.
The steering wheel is replaced by a biometrically-connected and controlled menu, which is projected onto the palm of the drivers’ hands. The groundbreaking design inspires intuitive selection.
The vehicle is also emission-free with a combined engine power of more than 350 kW.
The all-wheel-drive features torque vectoring, enabling new freedoms and ‘guarantees’ driving dynamics at the highest level – without compromising safety.
This means that each wheel can be driven separately and in all directions, depending on the driving situation.
Additionally, the Vision AVTR is free of fossil resources and is made of 100% recyclable material. Mercedes Benz says that this development ‘underlines the high relevance of a future circular economy in the raw materials sector.’
No release date has been set for the Vision AVTR.
