Finding an affordable camcorder that can take Full HD videos is tough, especially if what’s being sold in major retailers does not fit your budget. The Millennius Memmoir Gold Full HD 1080p Touchscreen Video Camcorder is easy to use, can take full HD videos, and only costs $379.

Despite its affordable price tag, the Memmoir Gold is packed with features such as Full HD video recording (1920×1080 @ 30 frames per second), 20 megapixel still shots (via firmware interpolation), 120x zoom (12x optical and 10x digital), White balance adjustments, face detection, and even a 3-inch touchscreen display.
The unit’s mode dial, record start/stop, and five-way directional joystick (that also adjusts white balance (Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Fluorescent, and Tungsten), exposure, and enables/disables manual focusing) are found on the back of the camera. The Display, Menu, Flash, Strobe, and Power buttons are located on the left side of the camera, while the playback button is beside the 3-inch touch screen. The camcorder is compatible with SD/SDHC cards, with Millennius including an 8GB SDHC card. Millennius has also included a HDMI, USB, AV cable, as well as a camcorder pouch in the package.
The main menu is simple and it was easy for us to adjust the camcorder’s settings. The 3-inch screen was responsive and the icons were well-labelled. Videos are shot in AVI format (H.264) in 1080p (30fps), 720p (30fps and 60fps), WVGA (30 fps and 60fps), and WQVGA (240fps). Photos can be saved in 2M, 5M, 10M, 12M, and 20M (via interpolation).

Users can change the white balance setting by moving the joystick to the left or adjust the exposure by moving the joystick up or down. Users can also switch the camcorder into manual focus mode in case it fails to focus on an object automatically (using the wide/tele zoom rocker).
We didn’t expect the best picture quality from this camcorder, but during playback we found that outdoor shots were vivid and clear. Indoor footage was also good, although we recommend users to shoot in well-lit places as the unit doesn’t have a night mode. The LED can be turned on, but can only do so much when shooting in dark places as the videos were prone to noise. The camcorder can also take 20-megapixel photos (through interpolation), which is good enough for prints that you can share with family members. Effects are also available in case a user wants to shoot in sepia or black and white.
Overall, the Millennius Memmoir Gold Full HD 1080p Touchscreen Video Camcorder is an affordable option for those who want to shoot and share Full HD videos to relatives. It may not offer a lot of video modes and manual settings, but this camcorder is good enough for those who just want to point at an object and start shooting.
