China Telecom, the largest fixed network operator in China has moved into the Australian market with the company admitting that they have built a 70 server content serving operation in NSW.At this stage the Chinese company claims that it plans to work with local carriers in an effort to provide “specialised superior-quality communication services”. It is not known what content China Telecom will launch in Australia or what the Mascot site will be used for.
The new server site in Mascot has been built using local solution providers. ChannelNews has been told that it has been configured using Cisco Network gear to deliver content and Cloud computing like services.
Earlier this week the CEO of China Telecom Hong Kong, Xiaofeng Deng visited Australia.
An official statement given to ChannelNews after we approach China Telecom said China Telecom (Australia) Pty. Ltd. is part of the China Telecom’s expansion plans to meet telecommunications needs into China and is expected to further strengthen its networks and telecommunications service offerings in the Asia Pacific region”.
According to China Telecom, it plans to work with other Australia local carriers to develop a wide range of communications and integrated information services, as well as provide multinational customers with specialized superior-quality communication services. It will also leverage its extensive international network resources to provide customers with customized, cost-effective integrated information and communication solutions and diversified telecommunications services. Some of the services that China Telecom will provide in Australia include IP Transit Service, MPLS VPN Service, IPLC (International Private Leased Circuit) Resale Service and Managed Data Network Service.
