According to a number of overseas reports, Cisco’s Linksys brand may soon disappear, although the exact date is still a closely guarded secret.

Linksys was a successful vendor of home and SMB routers, wireless LANs and networking gear when Cisco acquired it in 2003.
Cisco, which now has moved into the SMB channel partners to sell both Cisco and Linksys products is finding most customers didn’t not want both brands in their sites.
And in terms of the resellers, unlike Cisco, the Linksys resellers were more geared toward selling individual products.
The reports state that the Linksys brand will be killed off sooner than later and will be replaced by just a Linksys product category, with the only question remaining being about customer support, which has to be still worked out.
