Samsung has today taken the wraps off its SE370 monitor, which it states is the world’s first monitor with an integrated wireless charging function for mobile devices.Cutting down on cables, the SE370 monitor works with mobile devices that employ the Qi wireless charging standard, with a circular wireless charging area integrated in the monitor’s stand. Users can place their device on the stand’s charging area to initiate automatic charging, which is confirmed by an LED light.
In the words of Samsung, the SE370, which sports an ultra-narrow bezel and semi-transparent blue finish framing a white glossy body, “declutters work areas by doing away with unnecessary cables and ports needed to charge mobile devices”, eliminating “the hassle of having to purchase and keep separate charging kits, saving cost and improving workspace utilisation”.
In terms of the monitor’s specs, the SE370, which comes in 23.6″ and 27″ models with 1920 x 1080 resolution, features a plane-to-line switching panel, which Samsung states allows users to experience “universally optimised viewing with a 178 degree wide-viewing angle, as well as excellent picture quality with vivid and clear imagery delivered through a brightness of up to 300 cd/m2”.

An eye-saver mode is designed to reduce the harmful effects of blue light on viewers’ eyes and associated eye strain by monitoring and optimising picture quality to match specific environmental settings, with a flicker-free function also protecting viewers’ eyes.
Supported by AMD FreeSync technology, the SE370 synchronises the screen refresh rate with the frame rate of the user’s AMD graphics card, minimising input latency, as well as reducing stuttering and lag during gaming and video playback, with Samsung adding that the SE370’s 4 ms response time “enables clear and smooth tracking of even the fastest on-screen action without motion blur or ghosting”.
The SE370 also features an Eco Saving Plus function, reducing screen brightness for increased energy efficiency.
“Technology should support, not interfere with, active lifestyles,” Seok-gi Kim, Samsung Electronics Visual Display Business senior vice president, commented. “Our customers increasingly rely on mobile devices to obtain information and interact with others; so, by doing away with the clutter on their desks, we are helping them to use their mobile devices in a smarter way.
“Through the integration of wireless mobile charging technology, our innovative SE370 monitor dramatically improves efficiency, convenience and connectivity at home and at work, representing another significant milestone in our long history of industry-firsts.”
Samsung has yet to provide pricing details or availability for the SE370.
