Compro Technology, a Taiwanese manufacturer of AV and security products, has introduced a cloud-based P2P security option that acts like a security monitoring version of Skype.Dubbed ‘smartConnect’, Compro IP cameras are linked around the home through the Internet without the need to go through router configuration, IP address input and other networking issues. The cameras can then be monitored online.
The networking solution is powered by Seedonk, and the Seedonk instant messenger program is used to view from and use new Compro cameras with smartConnect like a webcam. Users log onto the IM, add friends and view, record and chat over the simplified user interface.
The smartConnect technology makes Compro cameras simpler to set up than past models and other IP cameras that require manual input of network information.
There is also an integrated app for Facebook, iPhones and Android for sharing video.
Compro cube series IP cameras and the Compro IP540 are the first to feature smartConnect and can double as a security monitor and webcam, with compression formats like H.264, MPEG-4 and M-JPEG for compatibility with a wide range of video players.
