Messenger 6 and similar connected apps are ready to be unleashed on BlackBerry App World from today.
BlackBerry Bold and other handset owners can invite their BBM friends to join them in a game, chat in real time while the game is being played – without ever leaving the clever app.
BlackBerrys can also share in-app experiences by simply pulling up their BBM contact list from within the BBM connected app and start chatting, handy when using productivity apps for business users.
Users can also discover new apps used by BBM friends by viewing the list on their profile and instantly downloading them from App World.
“BBM 6 marks the beginning of an even greater social experience for BlackBerry smartphone users,” said Alistair Mitchell, VP, BBM Platform & Integrated Services at Research In Motion.
BBM also gives developers an “incredible opportunity” for developers to leverage the viral nature of the service, she added.
And there’s more on the way. RIM are also working with developer partners to bring their BBM connected apps to BlackBerry App World this week, offering “highly engaging app experiences.”
“BBM 6 is the underlying mobile social network making Wikitude on the BlackBerry platform a very unique experience. bringing it to life with millions of people who can chat, meet and share in an AR environment has the potential to revolutionise how we interact with one another” says user Andy Gstoll, CMO of US company Wikitude.
The BBM 6 software is available from today at www.blackberry.com/blackberrymessenger.
A selection of BBM connected apps will also be posted on BlackBerry App World this week, and over the coming months.
