The kitchen probably has a special place in our hearts as it is a place in our homes where food is prepared and made. And while there may be a lot of appliances in our kitchen, serious cooks always look for the best cooktops around. Smeg has come up with the CIR900XS, a flush-mounted cooktop for those who want the bold lines and robust styling of commercial cooktops.

According to Smeg, the CIR900XS has a much larger cooking area than conventional 90cm hobs as this model comprises five versatile gas burners in a 90cm by 58cm, flush-mounted, seamless satin stainless steel hob. It has a ‘stand alone’ high intensity wok burner to the left and four other burners in a square configuration to the right. These comprise one rapid, two semi-rapid and one auxiliary burner.
The company claims that this layout is advantageous as cooks can use large pots and woks simultaneously. This is because of the fact that most cooktops purported to be 90cm wide have only 75cm of actual cooking space due to an actual width of 86cm and a side-mounted control panel. The CIR900XS has a full 90cm of actual cooking space and is also flush-mounted so it lies level with the benchtop, leaving no ridges to collect grease and food particles.
The appliance also features cast iron trivets, flame failure device to each burner, automatic electronic ignition and easily accessible front-mounted controls.
