Corning has announced a new glass substrate called Astra Glass, optimised for mid-to-large-size immersive displays in high-performance tablets, notebooks and 8K TVs.
Corning said Astra Glass is engineered to enable the higher pixel density of high-performance displays.
Panel makers say they need a thermally and dimensionally stable glass to improve yields while achieving the desired resolution as consumers demand sharper and more life-like images.
Astra Glass will be employed in large-size 8K TVs and high-performance notebooks and tablets with bright picture quality and fast response times.
