Two new routers featuring MU-MIMO technology have been launched by D-Link in Australia.
Both the new DIR-882 AC2600 ‘EXO’ MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Gigabit Router and the new DIR-878 AC1900 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Gigabit Router take advantage of MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology to deliver a high-bandwidth Wi-Fi signal to multiple devices simultaneously.
“These two new Routers further deliver on D-Link’s promise of producing Routers packed with premium features, faster speeds and support for more devices providing the perfect combination of performance and ease of use,” said D-Link ANZ MD Graeme Reardon.
Described by Reardon as being “specifically designed for 4K streamers and gamers”, the DIR-882 is positioned between the company’s flagship AC5300 DIR-895 Router and the new DIR-878.
It supports up to four data streams for maximising the connection speed of multiple connected devices, as well as 160 MHz bandwidth for double the throughput.
“Additionally, it creates a ‘PowerZone’ of high-performance Wi-Fi right where you need it, but can be seamlessly expanded to gain extra coverage should your home need it by adding Whole Home Wi-Fi enabled Range Extenders, giving you a scalable mesh network solution,” Reardon said.
Meanwhile, the new DIR-878 has been designed for small office and home office environments, and features 802.11ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi with dual-band technology delivering speeds of up to 1900Mbps.
This router can also be integrated with D-Link’s Whole Home Wi-Fi mesh networking. Other features include Gigabit Ethernet ports, advanced security features and a built in Quality of Service engine.
Both new routers are available now on the D-Link website and all authorised D-Link retailers and resellers. The DIR-882 AC2600 EXO Router is priced at RRP $349.95, while the DIR-878 AC1900 Router is priced at $299.95.
