D-Link is the next company to unveil its own Powerline solution; a 200Mbps Powerline Ethernet adaptor, allowing you to use your existing electrical wiring to extend your home network.
The D-Link adaptor (DHP-300) plugs into a router, and another to a wall-socket, giving you a “wireless” Ethernet connection in any room of the house. It is “wireless” as it lets you avoid tracking Ethernet cables around the house wherever you have a device that you wish to add to your home’s network.
“Powerline solutions are set to take off because their data rates are high, they are easy to set up with self-configuring wired Ethernet devices and they are convenient. The average home has dozens of power outlets and existing home networking components are usually stationary, located near wall sockets and require high bandwidth,” said D-Link’s Maurice Famularo.
“The technology is fast, extremely easy-to-use, and is a natural compliment to our popular wired and wireless home networking for streaming data into areas of a home where it may be difficult to run an Ethernet cable or achieve a strong wireless signal,” he added.
