D-Link have added support for controlling the mydlink Wi-Fi Smart Plug using Google Assistant on a range of devices.
Owners of the Smart Plug and a compatible Android or iPhone device, or Google Home after its recent local launch, can say “OK Google” to the Google Assistant and ask it to turn plugs on or off.
This additional functionality opens up “a world of possibilities for homeowners to manage their appliances” according to D-Link.
“With the support of the Google Assistant, consumers no longer need to stress about forgetting to turn off the clothing iron or the lights after they’ve left home, because they can simply use voice-control to shut off the smart plugs wherever they are,” the company said.
To set up the devices, users need connect to the Smart Plugs in the settings menu of Google Home or the Google Assistant app.
The company said Google Assistant compatibility will be added to more mydlink products in the future.
“D-Link strives to continue expanding its range of Google Assistant-compatible products so that consumers can easily manage home automated devices in their smart home,” D-Link said.
