Panasonic Australia has introduced two new 4K security cameras to the Australian market, with the True 4K cameras designed to deliver more detail and greater coverage, aimed at applications where a large number of cameras are needed to provide full coverage.Panasonic states its True 4K range can cover a field of view four times larger than 1080p cameras and nine times larger than 720p cameras, and two and three times the distance, respectively, which in turn provides the potential to cut down on installation costs.
“The key benefits of the new cameras are superior image quality and a wide field of view, covering a greater area in high detail,” Robert Wensing, Panasonic Australia group manager, security, stated. “They offer benefits for a variety of organisations, and are ideal for areas that require ultra-high resolution, low-light capabilities and wide-angled surveillance.
“For example, a large car park requires vehicle model, colour and licence plate identification, as well as people monitoring. A typical 50,000 square metre car park would need around 70 HD cameras to provide effective coverage, while it would only require 21 Panasonic 4K cameras.”
Wensing added that Panasonic’s purpose-built optical system ensures its 4K cameras produce the “highest quality images”.
Among the WV-SFV781L outdoor vandal proof dome and WV-SPV781L outdoor vandal proof box (fixed) cameras features are Virtual PTZ (pan tilt zoom), which allows users to focus on a smaller area while recording the whole area, making it easier to track an area in the event of an incident, both at the time and when reviewing footage.
The key features of the new cameras are:
– A 12 MP 4K ultra-HD sensor that produces a 12 MP image at 15 fps and a 4K2K image at 30 fps.
– An optimised optical system, including a 1/1.7″ high-sensitivity image sensor, Panasonic large diameter lens (f1.6), and a 6x optical zoom for installation flexibility.
– Low-light performance at 0.3 lux in colour or 0.03 lux in black and white mode.
– Smart IR-LED achieves clear and sharp pictures at 0.0 lux across the whole 4K image.
– Rainwash coating reduces maintenance costs and avoids the effects of raindrops and dust.
– Both cameras are weather and impact-resistant with IP66, NEMA4x and IK10-ratings.
– An on-board processor can encode two H.264 streams simultaneously and offers JPEG modes for maximum flexibility.
– Edge-recording ready, with a SDXC memory card slot.
– The WV-SFV781L provides a 17-degrees to 96-degrees horizontal angle of view with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and 17.0-degrees to 100-degrees horizontal angle of view with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
