According to The Cairns Post, a female university student discovered nearly 50 images stored on the phone, including some explicit shots of a female employee engaged in a number of sex acts from the Dick Smith Electronics store where she bought it.
Smith who is no longer associated with the well-known chain of electronics stores, said he was not concerned about the incident impacting on his reputation.
“I sold the business 20 years ago so it’s really got nothing to do with me,” he toldThe Cairns Post.
“Woolworths (Dick Smith Electronics’ parent company) have always been very responsible with the brand and I’m sure none of this was done deliberately, he added.
“I don’t know anything about it and it’s got nothing to do with me”, he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile the company said it was taking the student’s complaint “very seriously” and urged the woman to return the phone to aid its investigation, according to the Cairns Post.
“Obviously, we’re taking this very seriously and we’re investigating what’s happened here.
He said the retailer’s Queensland manager had met with the student who bought the phone and there were “ongoing discussions about compensation”.
