Dick Smith has recalled four self-branded portable DVD players following concerns they “may overheat and pose a fire risk.”
The product recall follows an incident in August when a Dick Smith portable DVD player exploded in the lap of 3 year old Ava Lyons, leaving her with severe burns on her face and fingers.
Like the portable DVD player used by Ava, the fire risk stems from the “internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery.”
The recalled products (featured) were sold between November of 2009 to July of 2012 in Australian and New Zealand Dick Smith stores.
