One of the many highlights of CES 2023, in terms of products that will make a real difference in our homes in the future, was the announcement by LG of their new self-lit OLED TV with Zero Connect technology, the Signature M3.
The winner of two Innovation Awards at the respected trade show in Las Vegas, the 97″ Signature M3 doesn’t just deliver superior picture and sound quality, with real-time video and audio transmission at up to 4K 120Hz, this revolutionary unit comes with a separate Zero Connect Box that sends signals wirelessly to the cinematic screen, leaving your space free of troublesome and often unsightly cords.
This stunning achievement in technology and design doesn’t just leave you with a cleaner, distraction-free viewing environment, it offers greater flexibility to install and connect.
The Zero Connect box means the M3 itself has no need for input ports for connecting external devices on the rear or sides.
The box, which can be placed up to around 10m away from the TV to free up space better left uncluttered and give you greater scope and freedom to arrange your room, comes with multiple ports for plugging in commonly used HDMI devices such as cable/satellite set-top boxes and gaming consoles.
It can also connect wirelessly with compatible soundbars for richer, more powerful audio, without the need for cords running everywhere, which is especially convenient if your screen is mounted on the wall, where the unit’s sleek minimalism comes into play.
LG’s wireless solution to a hassle the world had come to accept would be around forever also delivers its 4K 120Hz content without interruption or degradation of quality. To ensure the seamless transfer of data from the box to the television, LG developed an algorithm that instantly identifies the optimal transmission path.
This algorithm also helps minimise transmission errors or disruptions because it can recognise changes in the immediate environment, such as people or pets moving around the room which may normally interfere with a signal, and switch paths accordingly.
On top of all that, for maximum signal strength, the antenna for the Zero Connect Box can be easily adjusted – rotated or tilted – to best align with the M3’s location.
Then, just to make life even better, the box is also enabled for voice recognition, so you can turn on and manage the M3 with spoken commands.
But apart from the ingenious tech designed to make life cord-free and hassle-free, the visual aesthetics of the M3 will blend seamlessly into any room. It’s understated One Wall design means that even though the 97″ OLED screen is quite formidable, it’s never imposing.
The M3 and its integrated bracket sit flush against the wall with no visible gap, giving it an art gallery feel that highlights the quality of the on-screen quality of the visuals.
