As tipped by ChannelNews, DJI has released its new ultra-light Mavic Mini in Australia, which the company claim is its lightest and smallest foldable drone yet.
The new mini device, which fits in the palm of your hand, is not cheap at $599 and is now available for pre-order from DJI’s website and authorised retailers in Australia like JB Hi-Fi.
That price includes the Mavic Mini drone, remote controller, one battery, extra propellers, and all necessary tools and cables.
A Mavic Mini Fly More Combo package is also available for $799, which includes all of the components from the standard package with the addition of the 360° Propeller Cage, Two-Way Charging Hub, two extra batteries, three sets of extra propellers, and a carrying case.
The Mavic Mini is DJI’s lightest and smallest drone ever made (weighing just 249g) and incorporates safety features such as geofencing to help pilots avoid restricted areas, AeroScope remote identification to help protect sensitive locations, and built-in altitude limits.
The drone will also automatically return to the home point if the drone loses connection with the controller or is on low battery.
In terms of footage quality, the Mavic Mini is able to capture high-quality footage including 2.7k video at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, or 12MP photographs using the ½.3-inch sensor.
A three-axis motorised gimbal is also implemented to help support and stabilise the camera on-board, ensuring the footage caught is the best quality possible.
“Mavic Mini’s long flight time, ultra-lightweight and high-quality camera makes it DJI’s everyday drone – and most importantly, it’s easy to fly, no matter your experience level with drones,” said Roger Luo, DJI President.
The ultra-light design and high-grade motors provide Mavic Mini with up to 30 minutes of flight time.
A Wi-Fi transmission signal delivers stable control and an HD live feed, while GPS receivers and downward visual sensors enable precise hovering, stable flying and accurate landing both indoors and out.
The ultra-light drone also has several accessories to choose from allow pilots to get the most of the Mavic Mini, which includes a 360° Propeller Guard, Charging Base, Propeller Holder, DIY Creative Kit, Snap Adapter, Mini Travel Bag, and a Two-Way Charging Hub.
