Woolworths has jumped onto the deal-a-day bandwagon with its own grocery and electronics deal site, Door Buster.
The site was being tested internally by employees in December last year and was open to the public this week. After word was spread via email and picked up by OzBargain, the site was indeed a Door Buster, crashing on its first day under heavy traffic.
Today’s deals include a 16GB 3G version of the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab for $689, around $30 cheaper than the typical price.
Some of the ‘instant deals’ are simply relisted products that are available at the same price from Big W, like the Amazon Kindle for $159 on both sites.
Everday Rewards card holders are being offered free shipping until January 17 on purchases over $20.
Woolworths’ move into online retail, apart from its online grocery delivery service, follows other major retailers like Harvey Norman which have jumped onto the deal-a-day bandwagon in recent months.
Harvey Norman’s push into the saturated daily deal market came as a surprise following Gerry Harvey’s own prior condemnation of e-tail.
