Upon the completion of this pic, my first thought was “very Mystic Riverish”.

Makes sense – set in Boston, paedophilia is a main theme, and a cast of less-than-perfect characters don the screen.
Casey Affleck (in a stand out role) and Michelle Monaghan star as two PI’s called in by the aunty of a missing toddler to help locate her niece. The two private dicks are not welcomed aboard with open arms by the police, but nonetheless get help in the form of bona fide detectives Ed Harris and John Ashton.
We are let into a world where nothing is quite as it seems as the two private investigators try and get to the bottom of a mystery that throws up more questions as matters start getting resolved.
There is the odd moment of unbelievability to this pic, but don’t let that put you off. The key to this whole movie is Casey Affleck’s performance, which initially I was a skeptic. However, he does sell the role, with Harris giving a wonderful performance as cop Remy Bressent to back him up, it certainly turns out to be a winner.
