French Hi-Fi brand Elipson is pitching its range of turntables to everyone from audiophiles to a new generation of vinyl lovers.
Distributed by Melbourne-based Indi Imports, two main models make up Elipson’s French-made turntable range: the Alpha 100 and the Omega 100.
Elipson describes its turntables as the “concentrate of technology and innovation” that have been “entirely designed and developed by Elipson’s designers and engineers”.
All of the turntables feature Digital Sinusoidal synthesis for “the best ever precision in RPM through state-of-the-art european electronic design” according to Elipson.
Three different versions of the Alpha 100 are available depending on preferences and requirements. The standard Alpha 100 (RRP $599) offers RCA outputs for connecting to a phono preamp or amplifier, and features a Ortofon OM10 cartridge, pressed steel plate, PVC chassis and matt finish in black, white or red.
The Alpha 100 RIAA (RRP $699) adds an RIAA preamp for connecting directly to speakers or other equipment, and the Alpha 100 RIAA Bluetooth (RRP $899) adds Bluetooth aptX and USB connectivity as well as 24-bit/48KHz support.
While Bluetooth is not often thought of as producing the highest quality sound, Elipson said its turntables are the first in the world to be able to transmit sound over Bluetooth “while keeping a sound quality unmatched”.
Omega 100 fills out Elipson’s higher-end offering, available in two variations with or without Bluetooth. Both feature an RIAA preamp, an Ortofon OM10 cartridge, pressed steel plate, PMMA chassis and acrylic lacquer finish in black, white or red.
The Bluetooth version also features Bluetooth aptX and USB connectivity and support for 24-bit/48KHz.
The turntables have been well-received by reviewers. What Hi-Fi described the Omega 100 RIAA BT as “a pleasant listen that’s up to date with some handy extra functions” and The Vinyl Factory, in its review of the Omega 100, concluded “for the price, this turntable not only looks good but it sounds good”.
