French communications company Sagem has quit the Australian mobile phone market after their product range was rejected by almost every carrier. Also a victim was the Sagem made Porsche mobile phone which was being sold via Porsche dealers in Australia.
Also exiting the company is Sam Skontas who during the past 10 years has had numerous marketing jobs with struggling communications companies including Virgin Mobile and Mitsubishi.
12 months ago Skontas was claiming that Sagem, who have struggled for several years in the Australian market, was set to be a major player in the bottom end of the mobile phone market. However, according to recent data from Mobrief, Sagem only ever captured 0.07% of the Australian mobile phone market despite having several models on sale.
