Former HP Australia boss has a new job at the country’s second largest telcoDavid Caspari former, Managing Director of HP, South Pacific, has been appointed Optus Vice President of Product and ICT.
Caspari quit as head of the PC giant’s Australian operation last September as the company hit a series of downturns. He will report to Optus Business’ Managing Director John Paitaridis.
The appointment is a bid by Optus to further boosts its end-to-end ICT services capability. Two other senior Business VPs appointments were also announced.

“David brings a wealth of ICT experience across Australia and Asia Pacific and will be responsible for leading product and solution development of core telecommunications and ICT, as well as articulating the Optus ICT vision to customers and partners. Optus Business continues to attract strong talent from across the industry.”
In the last 12 months, Optus Business has publicly announced a total of almost $700M of integrated ICT contracts with Westpac, ANZ, UGL, Virgin Australia and the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). The division offers business application services, cloud and data centres, unified communications and collaboration, and security.
Optus also announced new Business Solution Centre, called ThinkSpace in Sydney Macquarie Park, which the telco develops business strategies with customers.
Jennie McLaughlin has been appointed to the role of Vice President for Business Applications and Solutions.
In addition, former Alphawest CEO Ian Smith has been appointed to the role of Vice President for Managed Services and Delivery, leading an organisation of more than 1,000 telecommunications and IT professionals.
