Motorola is set to launch a brand new smartphone in Australia which one senior Telstra executive has described as a “game changer”.The device which is tipped for a July 2013 launch is the first Motorola smartphone developed 100% by Google.
According to Telstra sources, Hugh Bradlow, Chief Technology Officer for Telstra, has told senior mobile staff at Telstra the new device is a “real breakthrough, a game changer that will put pressure on Samsung and Apple”.
Recently, the former Marketing Manager for Motorola Mobility in Australia Barry Smyth moved to the USA to head up marketing for the new device.
The new device which is currently called the Motorola X will be shown at the Google Developer Conference in May for the first time; it will go on sale in July.
According to Motorola sources the device will feature software never seen before in a smartphone.
“Google has been working on this device for a long time. It has software features and capabilities that are not available on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or Apple iPhone. The software is really powerful and it pulls together Google services like no other manufacturer has done in the past,” a reliable source told SmartHouse.
