The Ativ S is Samsung’s first Windows 8 Phone in the Australian market and will compete against the platform’s hero phone, HTC’s 8X, and Nokia’s Lumia 920.
It’s primed to do so as it features a 4.8 inch screen with a 720×1,280 resolution, a 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, up to 32GB of expandable memory and a microSD card slot. It has an 8MP rear camera capable of Full HD recording, a 1.9MP front facing camera, NFC, and is only 8.7mm thin.

Samsung’s Ativ S is considerably more restraint than Nokia and HTC’s WP8 smartphones. Unlike the shouty colours modelled by its rivals, Samsung coat the Ativ S in a sleek silver hairline finish.
Samsung hasn’t clarified if the Ativ S will be available on contract or as an outright purchase alone.
