Sony who is struggling to attract consumers to their expensive Android tablet offering has confirmed an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Sony Tablet P.The update due this week for the oddball dual screen tablet, will not fix Sony’s sales problems with reviewers around the world panning the device because of its shape, price and size.
Sony released a press release in Japan on Friday stating that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the dual-screen Sony Tablet P will appear on May 24th. Although it is not guaranteed to arrive in Australia at the same time. An update for the equally unpopular Sony Tablet S is set to be rolled-out simultaneously worldwide.

New features offered by Ice Cream Sandwich include a handful of interface tweaks, much better traffic monitoring, improved voice recognition, resizeable widgets and a more dynamic lock screen. The one feature we keep on coming back to though is the ridiculous Live Effects – that feature in the standard ICS video camera app – they’re crazy-fun.
Trusted Reviews said recently that in March 2012, Sony said “sales on Tablet S met our expectations”, but we’re not so convinced the Tablet P sold as well. We’re yet to see one in use by a normal person – so if you have one, please do give us a shout in the comments. The unusual device received lukewarm reviews, but we’re keen to know what you think of your tablet.
