EzyFlix.tv the Company that is taking on Foxtel and Fetch TV is not frightened by the potential of Netflix entering the Australian market claims that they are the first online Company to officially adopt Digital HD.
The Sydney based Company claim that consumers can now purchase “the hottest content” several weeks earlier than the standard home entertainment release via DVD or Blu-Ray, or other video-on-demand services.
Craig White, CEO of EzyFlix.tv, told ChannelNews that Digital HD is the fastest growing video category in the USA and that Australians are now getting access to new content earlier than ever before.
When asked about the threat of Netflix he said “Netflix isn’t the only girl on the dance floor, and she doesn’t have all the movies” he said (i.e.: latest release movies).
White said that in the United States, all major studios are applying Digital HD to content made available via electronic sell-through, and this is delivering wins for both the industry and content-hungry consumers.
“Digital HD is now the fastest growing online video segment in the United States. It has helped drive a 47 per cent increase in US consumer spend in 2013 and this was a direct result of providing viewers with an incentive to buy movies, electronically, ahead of their availability on traditional video-on-demand services, DVD or Blu-ray disc and subscriptions services like Netflix,” he said.
White said that in an evolving online market, providing early access to new release films significantly differentiates EzyFlix.tv from its local peers.
