F-Secure has launched its first products for the Android platform. The new software offers anti-theft and browsing protection for Android-based smartphones.
F-Secure Anti-Theft for Mobile enables easy remote locking and wiping of confidential information if a smartphone is lost or stolen. Browsing Protection, which is part of the F-Secure Mobile Security suite, identifies safe and unsafe websites.
Indi Siriniwasa, regional director at F-Secure Australia and New Zealand, says, “F-Secure has been protecting mobile devices for a full decade and we are proud to introduce our first products for the fast-growing Android platform. Our Anti-Theft for Mobile adds a valuable level of extra security for smartphone users and can also be easily upgraded to include more security features, including Browsing Protection.”
F-Secure Anti-Theft for Mobile includes remote lock, theft control and remote wipe functionalities. The remote lock can be used to lock the device easily with a single SMS message. The theft control feature activates when the SIM card is changed by locking the phone and sending the new SIM information to the owner. As an ultimate safety measure, users can erase all the data on the phone with remote wipe by sending an SMS message.
Browsing Protection, F-Secure’s first mobile in-the-cloud feature, which is included in the full F-Secure Mobile Security suite, identifies which websites are safe to enter and which should be avoided. Harmful sites designed to spread malware or to steal your online identity, such as banking details, are automatically blocked.
