Facebook has announced a variety of new features for its VR app, Spaces, designed to enable friends to better interact together in VR, as though in real life.

First launched to the Oculus Rift headset in April, Spaces is a social app designed to merge VR with Facebook.

The announcement saw Facebook introduce ‘3D Posts’ – a feature which allows users to build interactive 3D objects, which can be taken out of VR and directly posted to Facebook.

The company also debuted a series of low-key games (e.g. cards, dice) which friends can play in Spaces.

Users can now also bring their own photos and videos into Spaces.

In addition, users can now stream Facebook’s existing library of 360-degree video. At this stage, users can’t live stream 360 videos to individuals outside of Spaces, only just view them from inside app.

Users can use still use Spaces’ standard, 2D video live streaming tool, which was announced in July.

The news was presented at an Oculus Connect developer conference in California.
