Toys are getting increasingly high tech, and Fisher Price’s new Digital Arts & Crafts Studio is one such example. The toy lets kids create and manipulate drawings and photographs in a Photoshop-like way.
Incorporating a stylus (which kids can hold like a pencil), drawing board and software, the toy hooks up to a computer and allows kids to design and draw. There are a number of activities such as creating greeting cards, join-the-dots and digital colouring pages as well.
“I am always concerned about my children accessing inappropriate material on the computer, yet I do not want to discourage them using it independently. The Digital Arts & Crafts Studio is the perfect tool for them to use as it is so safe. My son Jake has already begun designing party hats for his 7th birthday all by himself,” says Melbourne mother of three, Nicole Travers.
The toy connects to the computer via a USB cable, and there is a one time CD-ROM software installation set up. Other security features include password protected controls to block access to desktop and hard drive files. It is compatible with Windows XP, 2000 and Vista.
