Fitbit have refreshed their Alta range with the new Fitbit Alta HR, readied for launch in April.
The new fitness band doesn’t just pay lip service to the potential of PurePulse’s continuous heart rate tracking technology by throwing it into the product name but looks to put it front and centre of the user’s experience.
“Alta HR and these powerful new sleep features demonstrate our continued focus on evolving our innovative technology to deliver deeper, more actionable insights to help our users improve their health,” said James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit.
“The miniaturisation of our PurePulse heart rate technology opens up exciting opportunities for future generations of devices and new form factors. Our advances in sleep will provide millions of users around the globe accessibility to invaluable insights that previously could be obtained only through expensive lab tests,” he said.
The inclusion of PurePulse is understood to enable more accurate calorie and sleep tracking from the Alta HR than you’d find in other fitness bands.
Alongside that new functionality, it’ll provide the same level of automatic exercise recognition, sleep tracking, battery life (up to 7 days), smart notifications and versatile design you expect from Fitbit.
ChannelNews understands this is the first of three major product releases on the cards for Fitbit this year.
The Alta HR is available for pre-sale from today but won’t hit store shelves until April. It’ll come with an RRP of $249.95 and be available through JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Rebel, David Jones and Myer outlets.
