Hello 4G; Is Samsung S II the next LTE phone to hit Oz? |
The ‘nameless’ Samsung smartie, thought to be the Adnroid 4.3″ Galaxy S II is set to be launched in the “coming weeks”, according to reports.
This comes just days after the telco unveiled its first ever 4G tab in Oz, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.
The telco will launch its second 4G handset, to rival the HTC Velocity – its first ever 4G smartphone released in January, a spokesperson told The Australian.
The revelation came at the Mobile World Congress 2012 currently going on in Barcelona, which is like the Paris Fashion Week of the mobile world, where all and sundry show off their latest mobility wares.
LG, HTC and Huawai have all shown off next gen quad core smartphones, while Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 was also on show as was goodies from Toshiba.
Telstra were the first Australian telco to unleash its 4G Long Term Evolution network last year and say the number of 4G subscribers currently stands at over 100,000, although no word on how sales of the heavily advertised HTC Velocity are doing.
4G LTE network promises speeds of “up to” five times faster than its existing 3G network and the ability to use several web services simultaneously, meaning you can download a video while reading an email.
And news just in, the Samsung Galaxy S II won smartphone of the year at this years World Mobile Congress event, just announced.
