Mini, Touch, Glo and Arc – there’s a new breeds of Kobos in town.
AS Amazon unveils three new HD Kindles, rival Kobo today unveiled its new eReader family including Glo, Mini, Touch and Arc – a 7″ Android tablet.

“Designed by booklovers for booklovers,” the new Kobos starts at a budget friendly $99 for the 5″ Mini – the world’s smallest E Ink eReader.

The no-glare 5″ E Ink screen is easy on the eyes – even in bright sunlight – and comes in black, white Teal, Ruby Red, and Purple. Perfect for people on-the-go, the highly portable Mini holds up to 1,000 eBooks.

The front-lit, 6″ Kobo Glo Wi Fi has adjustable ComfortLight technology for reading day or night.

Kobo Glo uses E Ink technology, customisable fonts and a no-glare XGA high-resolution 6″ E Ink screen that is just like reading print on paper.

The Kobo Glo eReader comes in Black, White, Pink Sunset, Blue Moon and Silver Star – and will be available in October for $159.99

The Arc Android 4.0 tablet comes with Kobo’s Tapestries interface, which uses an intelligent cross-media recommendations engine that responds to users “pinned” content to recommend related movies, books, webpages and other content.

With front-facing speakers with SRS TruMedia, a built-in microphone and 1.3 MP camera, Arc also promises up to 10 hours of continuous reading or video playback.

Arc users have access to more than 600,000 apps, including Facebook, Twitter, Rdio Zinio and PressReader pre-loaded apps.

 

Arc is available in Black and White with Blue and Purple interchangeable SnapBacks from November, starting at RRP $249.99 (8G) and $299.99 (16G) . Mini and Glo can be pre ordered from today at Collinsbooks.com.au.

The Kobo Touch, touchscreen eReader named Wired’s #1 eReader in 2012 is available at Collins and JB HiFi – for $129.99 and the eReaders is also sold at The Good Guys and Harvey Norman.

Kobo has more than 10-million users in 190 countries and nearly 3 million books in 60 languages.
