EXCLUSIVE: In a shock move, Lambro Skropidis the former marketing director of Samsung Australia is set to take on the same role at LG Electronics.The appointment of Skropidis, who left Samsung in December, comes as the two Companies go head to head in the Smart TV market and the Courts.
Sources at LG have confirmed the appointment, claiming that Skropidis will start with the consumer electronics and appliance Company on March 5th.
During his time at Samsung Skropidis witnessed the Korean Company take action against fellow Korean manufacturer LG claiming that they had engaged in false and deceptive advertising when launching their new Cinema 3D TVs and their passive 3D TV technology.
In his role at Samsung he was credited with awareness of the local Samsung brand growing by over 55% and by 140% in brand preference according to Samsung’s own research.
Skropidis, who resigned from Samsung on December 1, 2011 replaces Nick Gibson who left LG after 10 months to take on a CEO role in Melbourne.
Neither LG Electronics or Mr Skropidis are prepared to comment on the appointment.
