A free gifts HD TV war has broken out with Panasonic giving away a free Wii with selected HD plasma TVs. Earlier this week Samsung announced a free LCD TV with every 40-inch TV purchased. The news comes as Sony sales sink behind Samsung in week 25.
During the past 12 months, Sony has dumped tens of thousands of free Sony Playstation 3 consoles and Blu ray players into the market in an effort to bolster their TV sales, but despite this week 25 GFK data, shows that Sony has only 18% market share of the flat panel TV market, with Samsung grabbing 36% of the value market where Sony have in the past been extremely strong.
LG came in third with 15.8% of the market.
Now Panasonic is taking a run at the major brands In an effort to crank up sales with consumers who purchase a selected Panasonic VIERA Full High Definition (FHD) 1080p Plasma TV between 27 June and 2 August, 2009, getting a redemption Bonus Wii voucher valued at $399.95.
Matt Pearce, Product Manager, TV, Panasonic Australia said: “We are delighted to once again offer consumers a Bonus Wii in this exciting promotion.”
