Said to be one of the most beautiful art museums in the world, the popular gallery, which sees nearly 1.3 million visitors through its doors each year, has purchased a 103-inch Panasonic Full High Definition commercial display panel to bring its popular Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander gallery to life.

The Plasma display panel, which is currently located on Level 3 in the foyer, is being used to display High Definition video of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists working on their creations, giving the art a human face and enhancing the overall atmosphere of the exhibition.

Laurence Hall, Audio Visual Services Manager for the Art Gallery of NSW, said the impressive panel ticked all the boxes for the museum, delivering spectacular size, image quality, durability and clean design.

“The 103-inch Panasonic panel gives us the opportunity to deliver exceptional images without changing the space or needing to install special lighting or an intrusive projector.

“As our installations are relatively short-term, it is crucial that our equipment can tolerate repeated installation and removal. This, coupled with the obligation to ensure the Gallery’s funds are spent as responsibly as possible, means that we are always assessing potential purchases in terms of durability and versatility so we attain the best possible use from our equipment.”

Mr. Hall said the panel was also simple to use, with an intuitive menu and input functions to update files via the PC as required.

Panasonic’s advanced 103-inch commercial display panel, which uses lead-free glass, takes advantage of the company’s energy-efficient, double luminance technology – Neo Plasma – to deliver industry-leading picture quality with amazingly crisp, blur-free dynamic image reproduction.

Mark Deere-Jones, Director, Business Systems Group – Panasonic Australia, said:”We continue to see a strong demand for large screen sizes in commercial applications as they can offer patrons an inspiring and unique viewing experience that cannot be replicated in the home.”

The 103-inch panel boasts a moving picture resolution of 1,080 lines and a stunning contrast ratio of 40,000:1. For greater protection in high-traffic, public locations, the panel also features tempered glass on the front.
