If you are a fan of Zelda, God of War and Devil May Cry, then Darksiders should be the first game you’ll buy in 2010. It tells quite a tale and will take you to the end of the world for at least 15 hours.

Darksiders is set in a post-apocalyptic world where evil forces have prematurely brought about the end of the time. Players take on the role of War, the first of the Four Horsemen, who was blamed for prematurely causing the end of the world. War eventually promises to right his ‘wrongdoing’ by going back to Earth and killing everyone involved.
War loses all his skills after returning to Earth, which means that only way to get to ‘The Destroyer’ is to explore the barren wastelands. The game is divided into different sections but the formula is simple – go from Point A to a dungeon located in Point B, kill the minions, look for items that can help you progress, and beat the area boss.
Those who want to complete the game at 100 per cent will have to come back to the dungeons at another time, especially since there are places you cannot go to until you have found the appropriate item.

Speaking of items, War has his sword, scythe, and gauntlet as his weapons, as well as a bladed boomerang, chain, gun, portal device, and even a horse (Ruin) that helps you traverse through the wasteland. War’s weapons can be upgraded via the game’s merchant (named Vulgrim), with users also being able to purchase items and skills (so long as you have enough souls: the currency used for this game).
While there are a lot of moves to purchase, we found them to be a bit confusing at times. Sticking to the basic moves (for those who do not want to rack up combos) can get you through the game without much of a problem. Finding all the extras in the game (like artifacts, enchantments, lifestone and wrath shards) are not important, although by doing so, you can unlock a couple of achievements.
Darksiders is a good game that has enough puzzles to keep you busy for 15 hours or so. Although it borrows certain elements from various games, Vigil Games was able to make it their own and give users a familiar but unique game. It is available now, so make sure to check it out.
